Kathy is a qualified and experienced vet who is absolutely passionate about the value of holistic health care for animals and people.


kathy with lab 20150521 2002946805Kathy is a veterinarian who is absolutely passionate about natural health for animals and also about supporting the human-animal bond. 

Her areas of special interest are integrative/ complementary/ natural medicine, and animal behaviour.

She graduated from the University of Queensland in 1985 with an honours degreee in Veterinary Science, so has been part of the Veterinary profession for 30 years.

Since then she has had a diverse career within the veterinary profession, including:

  • clinical practice
  • research and teaching
  • remote area government veterinary officer, and
  • with the RSPCA

Kathy has worked in many places in Australia, and also in the UK and USA. She has previously owned two veterinary practices: one in rural QLD and one in suburban Brisbane. Kathy moved with her family from Queensland to Newcastle in 2012.

Kathy has done extra study to become a certified veterinary acupuncturist in 1996 and gain her membership in Veterinary Behaviour in 1999. She completed a Masters degree in ruminant nutrition in 1995 and is part way through completing a psychology degree.

Kathy was a founding member of the Integrated Vets Australia (IVA: vets interested in natural medicine) and is currently a member and committee member.

She is also a current member of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA), the Australian Veterinary Acupuncture Group (AVAG), and the Australian Veterinary Behaviour Interest Group (AVBIG).

Her knowledge and experience encompasses all aspects of natural, complementary and Integrative Veterinary Medicine, including natural nutrition, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and physical therapy.kathy with cat 20150521 1340323637

She is also highly qualified in the area of animal behaviour and assisting with any and all problems people may experience relating to their animals behaviour, or the relationships between people and animals.

On a personal note, she enjoys being outside in nature as much as possible, and especially camping and gardening. She is a passionate about the environment and sustainable living.

Cooking and healthy food are a passion, so whenever possible if she's not outside you'll find her in the kitchen.

Her family, music, and figure skating complete the picture.

She lives in Newcastle with her partner, daughter, cat and chickens.
