Faecal Transplant

Faecal transplants have become very topical and a new frontier in both veterinary and human medicine as we begin to understand more about the role of microbes in illness and disease.
The microbiome is the community of trillions of bacteria, fungi, and viruses living on and in an animal, playing a crucial role in digestion, immunity, nutrient absorption, and even brain function.
There are many factors that affect the microbiome and may support or harm it.  A varied gut microbiome ie having lots of different tiny little creatures living in the gut correlates with better health outcomes.

Faecal transplant (taking faeces from a healthy, donor and transplanting it into the gut of an unhealthy animal) is a therapy that is showing promise in many veterinary cases.
Initially it was indicated for gut issues such as chronic diarrhoea, vomiting, reflux, IBD but practitioners have noticed improvements is many other conditions such as anxiety, allergies, autoimmune disease and more. This is also considered a very safe treatment option, with rare cases getting any negative side effects. Generally this procedure needs to be repeated 3-6 times for the best outcome.
Dr Kathy and Dr Linda have been researching and preparing to be able to do Faecal Transplants for patients. Please get in contact to express your interest. A single procedure is estimated to cost about $$500 -$600.
